Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-09-24
Showup helps private groups of friends (a Crew) make standing Plans and show up for each Session. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: a sign-in identifier from Google or Apple, and the email address that provider shares with us. It is used only for sign-in and is never shown to other users. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email.
- Profile: the display name you choose.
- Crews, Plans and Sessions: Crews you create or join, Plans (title, optional emoji, days, time, time zone), whether you're going to a Session, and any "can't make it" reason you type (up to 140 characters).
- I’m Here check-ins: when you tap I’m Here, we record that you checked in and the time. We don't use your location.
- Session Photos: photos you choose to add to a Session. They are resized and re-encoded on your device before upload, which removes location and camera metadata.
- Reactions you add for other members in a Session.
- Consequences: if a Crew turns on Consequences for a Plan, the short text members propose for someone who missed a Session, who proposed and confirmed it, and whether it was done, completed, withdrawn or waived.
- Settings: your time zone (so reminders, quiet hours and weekly recaps use your local time), quiet hours, notification choices, and the version and date of the Terms you accepted. Settings are private to you.
- Device: a push-notification token and platform (iOS or Android) so we can send reminders, only if you allow notifications.
- Safety: people you block and reports you submit.
- Diagnostics: crash, error and performance reports, linked only to an internal account ID. Names, email addresses, sign-in and notification tokens, photo links and text such as "can't make it" reasons are removed before a report is sent.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, or any photos you don't choose to share. The app has no advertising or third-party analytics tools.
Who can see it
- Crews are private. Only current members of a Crew can see its Plans, Sessions, attendance, I’m Here check-ins, reactions and Session Photos. There are no public profiles and no public feed.
- Session Photos are stored privately and shown to Crew members through short-lived links that expire after an hour.
- Consequences are visible to the Crew. A proposal about you is only shown to you once another member confirms it; proposals that are withdrawn are never shown to you.
- We don't notify anyone when you block or report them, and reports are never shown to other users.
- Someone with an invite link can see only the Crew name, the member count and a short summary of the next Plan.
How we use it
To run the service (Plans, Sessions, reminders, history, streaks and Consequences), keep it secure, review reports, and fix bugs. We don't sell personal data and don't use it for advertising.
Service providers
- Supabase: database, sign-in, file storage and server functions.
- Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivering notifications.
- Sentry: crash reporting, with personal data removed before sending.
- Google and Apple: sign-in.
- GitHub Pages and Cloudflare: hosting these pages and invite links.
Retention and deletion
- Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your Session Photos at any time, leave any Crew, and delete your account from within the app.
- Reports are deleted after 90 days.
- Records of notifications we sent are deleted after 60 days.
- Copies in our database provider's backups expire on the provider's normal backup schedule.
Age
Showup is for people aged 18 and over.
Notifications
Reminders are best effort. Delivery depends on your device, operating system and network and is not guaranteed. Don't rely on Showup as an alarm.
Your rights
You can see, correct or delete your data in the app, or email business@afrozbuilds.online. Depending on where you live (for example under India's DPDP Act or the GDPR) you may have additional rights, such as portability or objecting to processing. Contact us to use them.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and we'll tell you in the app about material changes.
